Wrong cancer diagnosis award

A man who was wrongly told he had only a year to live is to receive more than £190,000 in compensation. The false diagnosis was blamed on a lab mistake and may have been caused by contaminated forceps affecting his biopsy results. He underwent surgery to remove his gullet, and his spleen, before the hospital revealed there had been no cancer. The hospital admitted liability.
