Woman receives damages for son’s mesothelioma

A woman has been awarded £10,000 damages after her son died from mesothelioma. The son of the 82-year-old widow was a former Clyde shipyard worker. He died aged 52 in 2001. She had claimed an award of £20,000, but the shipyard’s lawyers offered £3,000-£4,000. However, the judge ruled that the award should be £10,000 which he described as a just figure.
