No liability for second-hand exposure to asbestos

The Court of Appeal has ruled that an employer should not be held liable for damages, as it could not have reasonably foreseen that the wife of one of its employees would have contracted mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos dust on her husband’s clothes. The court overturned the landmark ruling that awarded £82,000 to the wife for second-hand exposure to asbestos.
