Deloitte calls for auditor protection in US

Bill Parrett, global chief executive of Deloitte, has called on US lawmakers to give auditors protection against catastrophic negligence claims. Parrett told the Financial Times that such protection is needed to ensure that the Big Four accounting firms are not reduced to three or less. He pointed to the fact that the Big Five firms were reduced to four when Andersen collapsed during the Enron scandal.
