Pupillage is not membership
An application for admission to a set of barristers’ chambers as a pupil barrister was not an application for membership of
a trade organisation. This was the verdict of the Court of Appeal by a majority, in dismissing an appeal by the applicant
from an order of the Employment Appeal Tribunal. The case involved a claim of disability discrimination under section 13 of
the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
