Damages for failure to spot pregnancy disorder

A couple whose daughter has a rare disorder and needs large amounts of care have won the right to damages after a hospital report said there were no abnormalities in the pregnancy after an amniocentesis test was carried out. If the disorder had been spotted the mother would have had a termination. The judge said the damages were likely to be “very substantial”.
