Monsanto settles PCB litigation for US$600mn

GM food company Monsanto has settled a case involving current and pending PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) litigation in Alabama for a total of US$600mn. The case involved Monsanto, Solutia Inc, and Pfizer Inc’s subsidiary Pharmacia. The claimants alleged that the companies had polluted rivers and creeks near a town in Alabama, causing cancer and other illnesses.
