Insurers must prepare for UK’s Crime and Policing Act 2026

Companies that move quickly to strengthen governance, monitoring and accountability frameworks will be better placed to reduce their exposure to criminal liability

THE Crime and Policing Act 2026, which received Royal Assent on April 29, 2026, marks a significant expansion of corporate criminal liability in the UK. Coming into force on June 29, 2026, the legislation introduces new obligations for businesses across all sectors, with particular implications for insurance firms already managing significant regulatory change.
