Climate change and its impact on ports and terminals

Chris Chatfield, at Kennedys, reports on the impact of climate change on ports and how the industry must adapt

In July 2025 the Royal Meteorological Society published its report on the "State of the UK Climate in 2024" in the International Journal of Climatology. The report drew some very interesting conclusions which are relevant to the risks faced by ports and their insurers when considering the impact of climate change.
