Lloyd’s mulls major shake-up of war risk wordings

Independent panel could rule on whether military clashes constitute war for insurance payout purposes

THE Lloyd’s Market Association is mulling a major rewrite of standard war risk clauses — which sometimes still refer to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in legacy contracts — in a bid to ensure that shipowner clients have a clearer idea about what their policies cover.
