Accommodation problems
Two recent applications to the Court of Protection highlight the difficulties that can arise when seeking suitable accommodation
for troubled young people in an appropriate setting. The first involved a young woman who had been deprived of her liberty
in a room in the Accident and Emergency Department of a busy hospital. The second concerned a deeply troubled young man, aged
17 years and 8 months, who had been in the care of the local authority for seven years and was placed in a residential unit
200 miles away from his home town.
