Accommodation problems

Two recent applications to the Court of Protection highlight the difficulties that can arise when seeking suitable accommodation for troubled young people in an appropriate setting. The first involved a young woman who had been deprived of her liberty in a room in the Accident and Emergency Department of a busy hospital. The second concerned a deeply troubled young man, aged 17 years and 8 months, who had been in the care of the local authority for seven years and was placed in a residential unit 200 miles away from his home town.
