Analysis: Lebanon faces CFT dilemma as Israelis attack Hezbollah's financial wing
With Israel waging war against Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group's financial infrastructure, Al Qard Al Hassan (AQAH),
has come under attack, forcing it to move to a more fragmented system to keep operating. As Hezbollah is formally labeled
as a terrorist group by the US, the UK and the European Union (which has designated its military wing, but not the political
arm that forms part of Lebanon's government), there will be significant combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) implications
as a result of this fragmentation. The Lebanese government, which opposes Hezbollah's conflict with Israel, now faces major
challenges in reining in Hezbollah's financial networks.
