The escalating conflict in the Middle East and the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz is set to become a major operational challenge for ship maintenance and safety and not just for those ships operating in and around the Gulf. Condition Monitoring Technologies (CMT), a provider of engine performance diagnostics and fuel quality testing solutions, is warning that the sharp rise in fuel costs, combined with severe disruption to global transport corridors, will impact the ability of service providers, OEMs and technical suppliers to support vessels worldwide.
