US Treasury warns ML-linked criminals are increasing dirty money hauls

The US treasury department has warned in its
2026 National Money Laundering Risk Assessment (NMLRA) that over the past five years, the median loss to criminals from sentenced money laundering (ML) cases has increased
by 150 per cent from US$208,000 to $526,000. In 2019, just 17 per cent of ML cases involved losses exceeding amounts over
$1.5 million, while in 2024 it was 32 per cent.
