Scope of duty of care in negligence claim against boarding school

Varela v Buckswood School Ltd [2025] EWHC 2445 (KB)

The High Court has considered the extent of the duty of care, owed by a boarding school to a vulnerable pupil who had suffered a psychotic episode as a result of ingesting illegal drugs offered by a fellow boarder on school premises, and whether there had been a duty to inform her parents, living abroad about the incidents and its consequences for their daughter.
