Miners sue for knee injuries

The Union of Democratic Mineworkers (UDM) is bringing ten test cases claiming compensation for Nottinghamshire miners who have suffered knee injuries. The UDM says that the miners had to work in cramped conditions, in mineshafts often only three feet high, which resulted in ligament damage to their joints and arthritis. The UDM says that in total more than 35,000 miners are similarly affected.
