Global natural catastrophe losses reach $107bn in 2025: Swiss Re
Global insured losses from
natural catastrophes are expected to reach $107bn in 2025, marking the sixth consecutive year in which losses have exceeded $100bn, according to Swiss Re. While the total is lower
than the $141bn recorded in 2024, it remains high as a result of the Los Angeles wildfires and widespread severe convective
storm (SCS) activity in the US, the reinsurance giant said in a new report. Overall US losses reached $89bn, accounting for
83% of the worldwide total.
