French coastal environmental protection zone

France has brought in strict punishments for polluters following recent environmental disasters off its coast. The French Parliament has announced the creation of an environmental protection zone on its Mediterranean coast. The zone extends for around 90 miles from its coast. The law is aimed at shippers who deliberately dump oil, rubbish, and other pollutants in the Mediterranean.
