Buzz around nuclear shows the hole that green shipping is in

On paper, new nuclear for shipping offers great promise. But the fact it is being taken seriously shows how forlorn efforts to replace diesel have become in 2025, writes Declan Bush of Lloyd's List

Nuclear power for shipping is having a moment. But why? Class societies are pushing out more analysis, Greek shipowners are working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the IMO is hosting workshops on how to join up different parts of the industry to develop the regulation alongside the technology.
