Alleging fundamental dishonesty in clinical negligence claims

In recent years there has been a noticeable increase in the number of occasions on which defendants allege fundamental dishonesty on the part of a claimant who can establish negligence, but might be exaggerating the extent of their injuries. Although there are examples of this tactic being used successfully (which can push the question of costs in the defendant's favour), that is not always the case, so the decision of the judge in the case discussed below is to be welcomed.
