World Accounting Report

Editorial

An agenda consultation is an important part of the IFRS Foundation's due process for both the IASB and the ISSB. The IASB began discussing its Fourth Agenda Consultation earlier this year but has decided to defer it to late 2026 in order to align its process with the ISSB's as this will give their stakeholders a more holistic view of the potential work of the two boards, and how it might affect them. It will also allow the boards and stakeholders to better consider any opportunities for alignment between their projects. Some stakeholders may be disappointed by this as one or two projects may be delayed. It is also worth noting that the FASB began its agenda consultation in January 2025; the deferral of the IASB's process will now make it further apart from the FASB's, which may be less helpful for companies with dual listings or global investors.
