Tribunals and safety regulations

An employee had claimed that his employer had refused to give him time off work to attend training courses in relation to his role as a health and safety representative. His claim was dismissed by an employment tribunal. The appeal was allowed, and the tribunal ruled that employment tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal both retained jurisdiction in cases involving breach of safety regulations despite the repeal of relevant statutory provisions.
