Damages for stabbed inmate

A murderer has received £7,250 in damages after being stabbed by other prison inmates in Edinburgh Prison. The ruling said that a prison officer had failed to supervise the recreation area where the attack took place. The attack on the murderer, who was serving life, was carefully planned, and he was stabbed 22 times by four inmates. He suffered multiple wounds including damaged lungs.
