PSC inspections

BIO-UV Group is advising shipowners to ready themselves for extensive port state control inspections after a concentrated campaign on ballast water management (BWM) came into effect on 1 September 2025. Led by the Paris and Tokyo MoUs the campaign will ensure ships are compliant with the Ballast Water Convention's requirements through a standardised 10-point checklist. Inspectors will check whether ships have an International Ballast Water Management Certificate, an approved and up-to-date BWM plan and an operational type-approved treatment system that is used according to that plan.
