Nurses in IV drug errors
A study by pharmacologists found that nurses made mistakes in administering nearly half the drugs they gave to patients intravenously.
The study also found that a third of the errors were potentially harmful. Researchers studied the way drugs were made up and
administered through a drip or injection in a number of wards at two hospitals in the UK. The researchers said the findings
suggested that at least one patient would experience a potentially serious intravenous drug error every day in a hospital
of 400 beds.
