Markel cedes global reinsurance business to Nationwide Markel Group is shuttering its global reinsurance business, selling renewal rights to fellow US major Nationwide for an undisclosed sum. Markel expects to complete the sale next month. Nationwide will delegate its Markel business to Ryan Re, part of Ryan Specialty. Markel will keep existing policies until they run off.
