Personal Injury Compensation
A brief outline of the nature of Public Inquiries
For members of the general public who do not have a legal background, the prospect of having to give evidence to a Public
Inquiry can be daunting, and it can be helpful for those within an organisation supporting, for example, a group of employees,
to be guided about the way in which their particular inquiry proceeds. For example, although highly qualified in other fields,
they might not understand the purpose of Public Inquiries, which are inquisitorial in nature, seeking to establish the truth
and make recommendations for the future, as opposed to UK courts, which are adversarial in nature (with the obvious exception
of the Coroner's Court).
