Travelers named as insurer that declined war risk cover for Eternity C
Travelers has been named by multiple market sources as the
marine underwriter that declined to write war risk cover for Eternity C. (IMO: 9588249), despite being the carrier with the annual placement for the vessel. The Greece-owned 36,830 dwt bulk carrier
was sunk with four confirmed dead and a further five still missing after it came under attack from speedboats and drones in
the Red Sea on Monday, with Yemen’s Houthi faction claiming responsibility for the incident. By deciding not to insure its
final voyage, the US-owned firm has swerved a payout on the hull value of the ship, which is likely to run to tens of millions
of dollars.
