An Indian company, ANRAK, was formed to carry into effect a Memorandum of Understanding agreed in 2007 between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Government of Ras Al Khaimah under which Ras Al Khaima was to set and operate an alumina and aluminium refinery and smelter to produce one million tonnes of alumina and 250,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
