Peanut allergy triggered by skin cream
A study has suggested that peanut allergy may be triggered by the use of skin creams containing peanut oil. The study by Bristol
University researchers, and published in the
New England Journal of Medicine
, involved 14,000 children born in the 1990s. The frequency of peanut allergy has apparently tripled in the last decade, afflicting
one in 70 children, though in most cases it is not life-threatening.
