Carriage of goods by sea1

8.1 Contract of carriage – general.

Carriage of goods by sea is the central part of maritime law. All other parts of maritime law relate to this central part, as there would be neither ships nor maritime law without the carriage of goods by ships. The importance of sea carriage of goods can be seen from court practice: most disputes are related to this part of maritime law.
