Marine insurance

15.1 Introduction

Insurance is a contract by which the insurer undertakes, in exchange for payment of a premium, to indemnify the assured against loss in case of loss or damage caused by an insured risk.1 The assured still bears the risk, but the consequences are passed to the insurer.
