Appeal against teachers’ industrial action dismissed
The House of Lords dismissed an appeal from a pupil (and his mother) relating to an attempt to get an injunction against two
teaching unions to prevent them from taking industrial action. The issue involved a head teacher who had instructed his staff
to teach an allegedly disruptive pupil, against their wishes. The House of Lords declared that the industrial action was clearly
over terms and conditions of employment, and therefore was a recognised trade dispute.
