Forced retirement claim

A group of 22 former civil servants are making a claim for unfair dismissal after they were forced to retire at 60. The claimants worked for the Contributions Agency and have taken their case to an employment tribunal. The age of retirement was lowered from 65 to 60 following a merger with the Inland Revenue. Shortly after their forced retirement, the Inland Revenue raised the retirement age to 65.
