Incorporation of the Hague Rules and time bar

The Hague Rules or the Hague-Visby Rules may be applicable as a matter of contract or by the force of law. In general, where the Rules are incorporated by a mere incorporation clause, an express provision in the bill of lading may be presumed to take precedence, in the event of inconsistency. However, there are exceptions to this principle.
