Rugby player can sue for damages

An amateur rugby player has been given the go-ahead to sue the Welsh Rugby Union for damages. The Court of Appeal found that the referee in an amateur rugby game was to blame. The player’s back was damaged in a scrum, resulting in paralysis for life. The referee failed to follow a safety law relating to inexperienced players and scrums, even though the team agreed to play regardless of the law.
