Africa a ‘significant opportunity’ for Lloyd’s: ASR's Boreham
Lloyd’s holds only a small portion of the commercial insurance market in Africa, creating a significant opportunity for expansion,
according to Martin Boreham, active underwriter of Africa Specialty Risks’ syndicate 2454.
Speaking to Insurance Day just over a year after the Africa-focused re/insurance group launched its Lloyd’s syndicate, Boreham said the commercial
insurance market in the region could be anywhere between $12bn and $15bn. “The Lloyd’s market is only a very small proportion
of that, so there is significant opportunity for Lloyd’s to expand its footprint in Africa, and not at the detriment of any
of the local markets,” Boreham says.
