Property war facility a first step to bringing capacity to Ukraine: McGill
The recent launch of McGill’s commercial property war risk facility in Ukraine is the
first step towards bringing international insurance capacity back into the market, the broker’s head of crisis management has said. The specialty re/insurance broker launched the first of its kind facility
early in January, working with local partners to offer up to $50m in coverage per risk for properties more than 100 km from
the front line. While the facility will bring much needed limit to businesses in Ukraine – many of which can only secure up
to $500,000 with local insures – Hamish Greenwood, partner and head of crisis management at McGill, says this will be just
the first step to bringing more general insurance capacity back to the country.
