Call for increased holidays rejected

The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) has rejected a call from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to bring UK holidays in line with the European norm by defining the eight Bank Holidays as separate entitlement rather than capable of being counted into the statutory minimum. The DTI claimed that it would be too costly for industry.
