Corporate manslaughter
Research by the Centre for Corporate Accountability (reported in the Financial Times of 21 August 2002) shows that the Crown
Prosecution Service completed 10 manslaughter prosecutions of business owners and company directors since April 1998 with
a further five due to come to trial later this year. These include deaths caused by the escape of legionella bacteria from
a cooling tower and crew deaths in the sinking of the
Solway Harvester
fishing trawler.
