Boeing fuel pumps checked

Responding to US Federal Aviation Administration concerns, around 1,800 Boeing 737, 747 and 757 aircraft are being checked for faulty wiring. Although no accidents have been attributed to what is thought to be an assembly error, airlines have been given four days to complete their examination. The faulty wiring is believed capable of causing a spark when fuel is low in the tank, with disastrous consequences.
