Cost of chemical testing

The number of approved chemicals, many of common household and garden use, marketed in Britain are expected to fall from 800 as low as 300 when EU legislation comes into force next year. This is not because they are inherently dangerous but because a number of manufacturers are opting to discontinue production rather than bear the estimated cost of £120,000 of reviewing the active ingredients of each product.
