First families accept compensation, many more sue

Nine of the first 25 families offered compensation by the federal Victim Compensation Fund, averaging US$1.36mn and ranging from US$300,000 to US$3mn as determined by special master of the federal fund Kenneth Feinberg based on the earning power of their lost relatives, have accepted. Four are appealing his decision and the others have rejected it.
