AIG pays Olympic-related costs
National Union Fire, a unit of
AIG, has paid US$4mn to reimburse the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics committee’s costs in defence of federal charges of bribery.
The committee had launched legal action against the insurer last year alleging ‘manoeuvres to avoid its obligations.’ The
reimbursement has now been agreed, the original charge dismissed but a US justice department appeal against the dismissal
due for hearing in September.
