Car design danger remains

Test results from the European New Car Assessment programme show that manufacturers still neglect pedestrian safety considerations in the design of vehicles. Only one of 17 popular models (the Honda CR-V) was rated above the lowest category of government-approved tests. The Society of Motor Manufacturers has forecast ‘substantial improvement’ within five years, with some models to be redesigned ‘from scratch’.
