Virgin rail gets £100mn for track delays

The Strategic Rail Authority is to pay Virgin Rail an additional £100mn compensation for track conditions delaying the operation of the new high speed train. The 125mph tilting trains should have been running two months ago but necessary track and signal upgrades are unlikely to be completed until 2004.
