Asbestos contamination on scrap vessel

Environmental organisation Greenpeace has sought an injunction to force the French government to bring back to France an asbestos contaminated vessel awaiting scrapping in Turkey. Greenpeace alleges that France is in contravention of European Union regulations in allowing the 1975-built Sea Beirut to leave Dunkirk without decontamination, because of the cost.
