Football league under fire from clubs

The High Court ruling that parent companies (Carlton Communications and Granada) of collapsed ITV Digital are not liable to the Football League for unpaid revenues/debts has left the league clubs facing debts from lock-in to costly contracts with players and club refurbishments. Both they, and the current league board which had a monopoly of negotiation on behalf of the clubs, are looking around for a target.
