Maritime lien - Whether lien arose for unpaid mooring fees - Whether lien created by contract

MD, a private individual, traded as Hampton Riviera. He claimed that he granted a licence to a houseboat to use a mooring in the River Thames over which he had a mooring licence. He took possession of the houseboat as security for allegedly unpaid mooring fees and claimed he had the right to do so by way of a maritime lien.
