Industry must act now to prevent crewing crisis worsening

Captain Gilbert Garcia, of Senator Crewing Manila, warns the sector has little time to react to a worsening crew situation

There are many challenges crews are currently facing in the workplace, including mental health problems, lack of training and progression opportunities, as well as unreliable internet connections. A BIMCO report revealed that there are currently 1.89 million seafarers operating the global fleet, and an additional 89,510 officers will be needed by 2026.
